ABOUT US

Warude founder Yuichi Iida is a musician who plays Afro-Caribbean, African and Japanese drums. He met ITAL food(vital food ) in Jamaica.  Ital is a Rastafarian philosophy based on unity with nature increasing your vital energy by eating whole, low processed food from the earth. Yuichi started to study what the Ital food for Japanese is and he found “brown rice” is the perfect food in terms of both nutritional and other inherent health benefit. As he studied, he found that brown rice should be organic because agricultural chemicals remain more in brown rice than white rice since brown rice contains bran which is close to the outside. “Wait a minute… what about other food?” Yuichi started to research the growing process of vegetable and animal produce. Toxic persistent pesticides harm you, farmers, earth and next generation.

His wife Hiroko Iida is from Osaka, Japan. She grew up playing in the kitchen at her parents’ Japanese delicatessen. The popular delicatessen has been loved by people for 40 years and closed while being missed in 2018. Hiroko inherited the recipe and wished to introduce home style Japanese food to Brooklyn.

ITAL x Osaka Home Recipe = WARUDE JAPANESE

In 2018, Yuichi and Hiroko opened WARUDE Japanese Bowl and Taco in Brooklyn, NY.  The most of the produce we choose is organic and ingredients are in their most natural form because what we suggest is vital food. We also offer organic matcha green tea from his home town Shizuoka, the biggest green tea producer in Japan. Yuichi has local connection to organic green tea farm. WARUDE imports organic matcha through his local connection so it can offer high quality matcha for reasonable price.  Our goal is making a cycle for better food culture, better environment and quality life for everybody. We hope you to be proud of being in WARUDE community and a part of this movement for the better future.

POWER OF ORGANIC BROWN RICE

Brown rice is a whole grain. White rice, on the other hand, has had the bran and germ removed, which are the most nutritious parts of the grain.

This leaves white rice with very few essential nutrients, which is why brown rice is usually considered much healthier. (300g/504kcal)

Brown rice contains many kinds of nutrients.

We only serve organic brown rice.

WHAT’S “SOSHOKU”?

“Soshoku“ is roughly translated to “simple food“ in Japanese. Soshoku plates consist a well-balanced meal including brown rice, miso, and seasonal vegetables.

The basic rule for the soshoku plate is to eat local and seasonal food,

which helps promote a healthy body.
